BARLEY BOB AWARD

The Barley Bob award is a high standard for contributions to the industry by someone related to the industry.

“From the very beginnings of Cilantro & Chive, Rieley & Kim have been steadfast supporters of Alberta Craft Beer & Brewers. New Alberta breweries can almost always get some support through a spot on one of Cilantro & Chive's many draft taps or in one of their well stocked fridges which pretty much exclusively feature Alberta Craft Beverages.

They support many Alberta Craft Beer industry events by simply being personally present in spite of their busy work and family schedules as well as by providing in kind donations. One example is the industry corn hole event put on annually by Blindman Brewing where the Kay's provide Moe's Pizza and their ever popular poutine bar. But there are many other events as well.

To me, they epitomize the spirit of the BarleyBob Award through the dedication of their own time as well as their principled approach of only stocking Alberta made Craft Beers even though other offerings might be more profitable as well as giving back to the local community as a whole.”
